FAQs

1) Q: Who is your favorite character? Why?
A: That one is surprisingly easy. I like Rachel. She seems like a bad mother to me. That's not really what I was going for, but she lets Erin get away with a lot (as does Sam, actually) and she let Jonas get to the state he was in without getting him treatment. She's the most outspoken in my comic and I think the funniest.

2) Q: Who is the easiest to draw?
A: Again, I'm going to have to go with Rachel. The curve of her snout is pretty easy. Plus she only has two horns and no loincloth to speak of.

3) Q: Why do the quality of the comics keep changing?
A: It really depends on what kind of mood I'm in. Sometimes I draw like I'm in a rush and those are the really bad ones. The ones with more detail are the ones I'm trying to impress people with. Heh.

4) Q: Why do the males wear loin cloths, but not the females? (Most of you might know the answer to this, but I thought I would give it just in case.)

A: Well, I'd like to think my dragons are anatomically correct (as correct as a mythological creature can be) and the male's "stuff" is up front, exposed. Thus the loin cloth. The females have the advantage of a tail covering their "stuff" because all that is in the back like with a lot of animals. (Sorry if this seems gross, but I put some thought into this before I started it. I had to work some things out to make them anatomically correct and so that I could explain it decently.)

5) Q: Why do we see only the four main characters?
A: I have no real answer for that, except that I find that most of the "jokes" come from that family. But they are main characters for a reason.

6) Q: Why Tripod?
A: I can't afford anything better that I know how to use.

7) Q: When do the comics update?
A: If my schedule allows, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. If things start to go awry, then only certain comics will have color to them. (Such as the nights I'm not busy.)

8) Q: What do the colors of the dragons mean?

A: Nothing. There is a bit of color that can be inherited (as explained in some of the comics.) Basically Rachel (green) and Sam should be able to have red, green, and brown hatchling. Erin is blue because of a joke, but I suppose if you go back and look at Rachel's side of the family, you will find a yellow dragon and a blue dragon mating on both sides (since both of Rachel's parents are green.) If you know anything about biology, the blue skin color is a recessive gene.

9) Q: What year does Dragon City take place in?

A: Pre-Erin days took place in 2005. Erin was born in 2005. In 2008, she turned three and entered Kindergarten and then later on in the same year, Jonas is born. Sam was arrested in 2009 and served a five year sentence. He got out of prison in 2014, so the current date of the comic is 2014.

10) Q: How old is everyone?

A: 2005:
Erin--Newborn
Rachel--25
Sam--25

2008/9:
Erin--3
Rachel--28
Sam--28
Jonas--Newborn

2014:
Erin--8
Rachel--33
Sam--33
Jonas--5

11) Q: Why is the time sped up? Why is 2014 in your comic?
A: Well, Erin and Jonas were added to the comic to become new characters and it was hard to have them as characters when they were very young.

12) Q: Who is your least favorite character?
A: Jonas, but only because all I've ever shown is his craziness. Not too wild about Erin, either, but only because she seems to me like she is trying to be like a mini-Rachel, even if she doesn't seem to like Rachel.
